ZERO WASTE LIFESTYLE

Hey lovelies!!! Social media has been exploding with ways we can reduce our plastic waste and ways to live a zero-waste lifestyle. I decided to change my habits this past year to help out our oceans and improve my impact on the Earth ;) So join me to read about ways I've tried to lower the amount of plastic I use.

FOOD

So, sometimes I feel like going to Chickfila, Canes, or just a restaurant in general. One way I avoid using plastic in restaurants is asking to not have a plastic straw or bringing an alternative straw- bamboo or metal. Also, sometimes when I get something to-go, they put plastic silverware in, so I usually ask for none and use bamboo silverware. Going to Silver Grizzly is a regular so when I get a caramel iced latte to-go, I bring in a mason jar and ask them to make it in that.

CLOTHING

I tend to get off track, and I know I'm talking about plastic waste, but clothing and textiles end up as waste in our ocean as well. Try to buy secondhand or give away your clothing instead of throwing away clothes. :)

SHOPPING

The easiest way to avoid using plastic is at the grocery store. I recently brought a produce bag and LOVE IT! I bring it to the Longview farmer's market on Saturdays downtown and to the grocery store. Instead of using those individual plastic bags, put your fruits and veggies in the produce bag! Also, I use shopping bags like Lulu Lemon bags to put all my groceries in. My mom has a little basket that we always use too.

RECYCLINIG

Lastly, if all else fails, I usually recycle my plastics.

Hope y'all enjoyed just a few ways I try to reduce my plastic waste. Nobody's perfect INCLUDING ME, but I try and that's all that matters.

Lots of love,

Em
